Many new computers sold today do not included a serial port as a default part of the standard computer package. If you have purchased a Cirris easy-wire CR cable tester you know you must have a serial port on your computer in order to make a communication connection between the tester and the computer. So what do you do if your computer does not have the required Serial port?
Cirris Systems has recently qualified a USB port to Serial port converter from Keyspan to fill this need. You can purchase this adapter direct from Cirris if that is most convienent for you or you can purchase this product on the open market. However, if you opt to buy on the open market please do not buy another make or model of the USB Serial Adapter as we have discovered that many other makes and models of this adapter do not work with our equipment. This adapter (out of many that we have tried ) has consistantly worked and worked without any problems.
