Testing the Breakdown Voltage of Gas Fuses

Gas Fuse Fixture

Challenge:

A customer needed to test the breakdown voltage across gas fuses. They needed to verify the voltage did not break down at 500V but did break down at 510V.

Solution:

Using the Touch1's high voltage and scripting capabilities, a custom component script was created that applied two test voltages. The script was designed to utilize both a pass and a fail condition to determine a good part. In this case, a hipot pass at 500V and a hipot failure at 510V indicated a good part.

Results:

The customer received a much safer test setup and more consistent test results. They were also able to utilize less-skilled operators than with their prior test process.
