Utah Has A Hugh Colletion of Dinosaurs Fossils. |
![]() There have been many discoveries of dinosaur fossils in Utah over the past 100 years. In Lehi, Utah (just south of Salt Lake City) there is the largest museum of mounted dinasaur bones and related objects in the United States. This museum is found at Thanksgiving Point just west of I-15 in Lehi. Also, Utah has the Dinosaur National Monument in Price, Utah in the Eastern part of Utah were there are hundreds and hundreds of fossils seperated painstakely from the rocks they are found in. Just in the past few years dinosaur tracks have been found in St. George, Utah where the track photo above was taken this spring. The Brigham Young University Earth Science Museum in Provo is recognized world-wide for having one of the largest and most valuable Jurassic dinosaur collections. (Only 5% of the fossil collection is on display, and over 120 tons of unprepared bones are securely stored under the university's football stadium!) Displays include: fossils from two of the largest dinosaurs in the world and one of the smallest, a 150-million year old dinosaur egg displayed with an x-ray of the embryo within, two fully mounted dinosaur skeletons, skulls of Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops, dinosaur skin fossils, and a new mineral collection. Utah has so many outstanding dinosaur museums, parks, digs etc. that they are too numerous to mention here.
