Many Attractions on Temple Square

Temple square is one City block square and is the location of the famous Salt Lake Temple (hence the name). This location was layed out by Brigham Young and was one of the first things he did on entering the great salt Lake valley.

Temple square includes two vistors centers, the historic tabernacle (where the choir got its name), the historic Assembly Hall where the early saints met for worship and of course the Salt Lake Temple. Sister missionaries are available to answer questions and to give tours of the buildings. Temple square is beautifully landscaped with flowers, trees, fountains and garden sculptures. The sculpures depict famous leaders of the church, memorable historic events or principles of the gospel.

The young ladies in the photo are young sister missionaries who give the tours of the buildings and teach those interested the principles of the gospel that Mormons believe. Notice the signs. Many of the young sisters are from many different countries and speak both English and their native language. It is not uncommon to walk through Temple Square and hear 4 or 5 different languages being spoken.
