| Testing Connections with Four-Wire Kelvin Measurements | |
Four-wire Kelvin measurements provide a way to improve the accuracy of very low resistance measurements and to eliminate the resistance of your test fixturing. This type of testing is very helpful for tests at less than 1 ohm and usually becomes a requirement for tests at less than 0.3 ohms. On the negative side, 4-wire testing requires double the number of test points and will increase the cost of your fixturing. Sadly many poorly designed 4-wire test fixtures lose most of the benefits of 4-wire testing. To understand fixture requirements and how these measurements work, see our page on 4-wire Kelvin testing and our new educational video at Four-Wire Testing |
Using four seperate connections to your device under test makes measuring small resistances easier and more accurate. |
