Cable/Harness Testing Made Easy.

New Year's Resolutions:

  1. Lose Weight
  2. Exercise More
  3. Calibrate Cirris Cable Testers

Ok, we're probably not that high on your New Year's resolution list, but now may be a good time to check calibration on your Cirris testers.   Knowing that your testers are operating properly, and within spec, gives you confidence in your test results.

While Cirris testers perform a self-test on power-up, doing a performance verification of each tester at least annually fulfills a key requirement of your quality system (most often ISO-9000).

Our newsletter this month covers ways to most cost effectively keep your Cirris testers in calibration

Cirris testers can be sent to Cirris for calibration, sent to an independent calibration lab, or Performance checked by you with a calibrated kit available from Cirris. For an overview of your calibration options and costs to help you decide on the solution that best fits your needs see:

Resistor Leak Adapter

Make calibrating your testers one of your New Year's resolutions.

As adapters wear, the measured resistance increases in mating contacts. This can cause assemblies to fail testing due to high resistance. While this problem does not result in passing bad cables, it does waste time and may cause you to scrap good assemblies because you think they are defective.

While calibration is not common for fixturing, there are ways to performance check your adapters by creating a shorting block adapter tester. A shorting block is simply a connector that mates to your test adapter with all pins shorted together. You verify the adapter by plugging this shorting block in and testing for very low resistance. For detailed information on how to do this see:
