Cable/Harness Testing Made Easy. Our newsletter this month deals with another mystery, again it is one of those expensive "learning experiences." If a cable fails an Insulation Resistance (IR) test during hipot testing, but sometimes passes when retested, what do you do? Read along if this is something you have faced. And, this month we introduce how to network your Signature Touch 1's the easy way with "Networking Made Easy."
Jeff also left behind a legacy at Cirris that, like his family, lives on. He looked for ways to contribute to the end, editing the video on "Cable Sniffers" in his last days. He brought humor and excitement to those he worked with. He added to the software that runs our testers and software that runs our company. In our hearts, Jeff will be sorely missed but never forgotten. If you have any questions or comments, call us at 1-800-441-9910. Best Regards, |

| Blindsided by Insulation Problems | |
A cable assembly house was having trouble with cables that would not pass a 100 Meg IR test. The highly flexible cable in this case had been carefully cleaned around the terminations at the connector but failures continued. On some days, many cables failed. They would wait a day and the same cables would pass. The relative humidity was found to be high on days with high failure rates. But why did it happen to this cable and not to other kinds of cables that were produced on humid days? If this is something that sounds familiar, check out our investigation this month into a failure and root cause that came as a surprise to several of us at Cirris. Insulation Problems |

Keeping all your test programs in one place so you don't have problems with obsolete revisions can simplify operations. Having a common point of access for test results can keep you informed as to what is happening on the floor and can provide historical evidence of your testing. This is now made easier with Cirris's "Networking Made Easy" for Touch 1 testers. We accomplish this by providing software that turns one of your PC's into a "data base server." If you already have networking on your Touch 1 but are not using it, we have a free beta version available for you. To see what is required of your server PC and how to install this software, go to: Networking Made Easy | |
