Did you know there are three ways to get test programs into Cirris testers? If you find yourself learning or hand entering "from-to" wire list information into your tester, when you already have it in some electronic form, then this month's newsletter is for you. While Cirris testers can learn from a sample assembly, it may be better to eliminate learning, with its risk of introducing errors. If the wire list is available in electronic form you don't need to type it in, just import the electronic data. Read our newsletter this month to understand the programming options for both Signature Series and easy-wire series testers.

There are many ways to create test programs for your tester.
Creating/Editing Wire Lists in Signature Testers
Self-Learning a sample cable/harness is quick and easy, but the checking required to make sure you have learned a correct sample can be time consuming and error prone. The more wires the more time-consuming your verification and the higher the risk of making a mistake. If you have wire lists in electronic form and you are using Touch1's or any of the R+ or H+ series testers with serial interface, you can import this wire list information. See the instructional video on importing wire lists for Signature testers at:

Text-Based Programming and Importing into easy-wire
The more wires in a harness, the more daunting the verification and checking of the learned wire list. If you have your from-to information in electronic form, don't enter it by hand. See how to import it into your test program by viewing this month's easy-wire video.
Would you rather type test instructions in text form than use easy-wire's graphical editor interface? The controlled entry of test instructions in the easy wire editor keeps you from making errors while programming. The more experienced you get, the more you might want to enter instructions directly. If you have always done your test programming with a text editor, you may think the easy-wire process is slower. Beginning with the 8.4 release of easy-wire software your can now switch between text editing and the graphical easy-wire editor at the touch of a button. You can duplicate instructions quickly if you have many similar instructions in a row. Best of all you can paste data directly from your excel spreadsheet without ever leaving the easy-wire editor.
